Kalima Young is an educator, activist and filmmaker in Baltimore. She is currently the Project Coordinator for the Baltimore Art + Justice Project at the Maryland Institute College of Art, an innovative program that connects arts-based practitioners who are advancing the cause of social justice. In addition, Ms. Young is a professor of LGBT Studies at Towson University. Along with AJ Hyde, Ms. Young founded Kubla Khan Productions, a gay and lesbian oriented independent video production company. Her film, “Living Proof,” which premiered this year, features twelve LGBT youth from Baltimore who write and perform a play based on their real life stories, teaching each young person to see themselves as the “hero” in their own life.
Francine Housier has a background in university student affairs programs, diversity education and training. She is currently an organizer for Occupy Baltimore. Ms. Housier has her BA in Psychology from James Madison University.
Kalima and Francine have been partners for six years.
